Unusual Insurance Policies

We are all quite used to taking out insurance for a variety of reasons. From car insurance to home insurance policies, pet insurance to personal liability insurance if you’re self employed.

But the world of insurance can be a whole lot weirder. Today we are going to take a look at some policies that you probably have never heard of. However, after having read about them, you may well be interested in purchasing them.

Golfing Insurance

This is a thing. If you play golf, then you may be aware that there are precautions that you need to take out on the course to ensure the safety of you, those around you and private property.

Well, if something can go wrong, it usually will at some point. That’s why golfers’ insurance was invented.

This insurance will cover you if you are sued for damage or injury to other people or property.

It can also cover your equipment if travel abroad.

Wedding Insurance

With the average cost of a wedding in the UK costing in excess of £30000, it’s no surprise that some people consider it wise to protect their investment and plans.

Change of heart insurance, as it is sometimes referred to covers for loss and expenses incurred if one or both of the couple to be married gets cold feet and calls off the big day after preparations and reservations have been made.

Be careful though – this isn’t last minute insurance, and you’ll only be covered if you cancel well in advance of the big day.

Giving Birth Insurance

Lets say you go through with the big day and you start to grow your happy family.

Very often young couples are financially unprepared for the possibility of multiple births. Even having twins can be a significant financial expense. Imagine suddenly having to cope with quads or quintuplets!

This insurance can be taken out at time of pregnancy, but don’t delay or you won;t be able to take the policy out in the first place.

Body Part Insurance

Many well-to-do celebrities have made the headlines for insuring various parts of their bodies. From hair insurance to leg insurance to voice insurance, we've heard it all.

But there are times when you may want to do the same thing, albeit on a smaller scale.

If you are embarking on an athletic career, or if your job depends on your physical abilities, then you may want to consider taking out specific long term disability insurance that’s designed to protect your physical assets in the event of damage.

Lottery Insurance

I saved the best ‘till last.

Lottery insurance may be the one policy on this list that you can safely say you’re unlikely to ever need…. Or maybe not.

If you are an employer, and your employees have all entered into a lottery pool together, there is a chance, no matter how slim, that they will win that lottery and all leave their jobs together.

That leaves you without employees and a massive headache to sort out before your business suffers.

That’s where lottery insurance will help, as you pay for temporary staff and cope with loss of productivity and the myriad costs involved in hiring new staff.

Conclusion

Whilst we don’t think you’re ever going to use all of these policies, there may be at least one or two in this list that you may consider in the future!
